NSW grandmother pockets $4.8m Set For Life jackpot two years after winning $60k lotto prize

A NSW grandmother has won two major lottery prizes within two years, after pocketing the $4.8 million Set For Life lotto jackpot on Monday.

After responsibly saving the money from her first $60,000 win in 2021, she said she’ll use her latest lottery prize to retire and “fulfil some big dreams”.

The Kingsgrove woman held the only division one entry in the Set for Life draw 2923 this week, and will take home her newfound fortune in the form of $20,000 instalments each month for the next two decades.

She said a “weird feeling” guided her towards an unusual ticket choice.

“I didn’t put my regular ticket on last week, but I had to this week because I had this weird feeling,” she told The Lott.

A record $2.3b lotto jackpot will be drawn tomorrow. Here’s how to enter

Her winning numbers, chosen automatically for a QuickPick entry purchased online, were 20, 33, 18, 32, 19, 10 and 22, with supplementary numbers 43 and 3.

“You just have to trust the universe,” she said.

It is not the first time the universe has provided for the Kingsgrove woman, but it is the first time she’s allowed herself to spend her winnings on turning her dreams into a reality.

“I still have my last Set for Life prize of $60,000 all saved up because I wanted to be responsible,” she said.

“But with this prize, I can actually fulfil some big dreams I’ve been thinking about.

“I think it’s time for an early retirement, so I can help raise my grandchildren and travel the world. I love to travel, and now I can do more of it.

“I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland and even Bora Bora.”

The two-time winner said she often read stories about the Set for Life’s biggest winners and said: “I always dreamt that it would happen to me.”

“I read the one a couple of months ago about the guy who won in Gympie.

“Now I’ll be able to read my own story — I hope this inspires some people and brings a bit of hope.

“It’s crazy. I can’t believe it.

“This has topped the icing on the cake.”
