You might be paying more than you need to for your Powerball tickets, and there is a simple explanation as to why.
While two PowerHit tickets cost $53.90 on The Lott’s website, they are more than $8 more expensive at $62 on the Oz Lotteries’ website.
Oz Lotteries is authorised by The Lott to purchase and re-sell tickets — adding a fee on top of what it pays to purchase them.

The additional fees cover expenses and help to provide additional services, according to Oz Lotteries.
“The slightly higher price difference accounts for the premium services and free unique features Oz Lotteries provides players such as Daily Winners, Lotto Party and all its Charity games,” an Oz Lotteries spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.

The exact words you’ll hear when Powerball call to say you’ve won $200m
The biggest lottery prize in Australian history — Powerball’s $200 million draw — is up for grabs on Thursday night after the jackpot jumped by $50 million from the previous week’s pool.
About one in every two Australian adults are expected to purchase a ticket for the draw, according to Powerball operator The Lott.
There were 7445 tickets bought in a single minute at the peak of sales for the previous $150 million draw.
Australians have until 7.30pm AEST to buy tickets before winners are announced at 8.30pm.
The latest draw tops the previous record-holding haul of $160 million on offer in a 2022 Powerball jackpot, eventually shared between three people.
The lottery company encourages ticket holders to register a playing card or online account so winners can be contacted immediately.
The 20 Powerball division one winning entries in 2023 pocketed a combined $552 million in prize money.
